Left unfinished, treated wood ages gracefully, eventually softening to an attractive driftwood gray. On flat surfaces, leaves and other debris may collect and create unsightly stains. Even if your lumber has the locked-in protection of factory-applied water repellent, you'll want to follow an annual maintenance program that includes a semitransparent stain of a sealant that contains an ultraviolet stabilizer. If you stain your project, we recommend using a quality penetrating latex or oil-based stain.

• Sawn and graded for #1 appearance with tight knots, no wane, no rot or bug holes, and no machine or manufacturing defects
• Boards have "band sawn" rough sawn texture on both faces which result in the most consistent appearance and very little saw scarring which happens in "circle sawn or gang sawn" products in other fence boards
• Boards are protected at the mill with fungicide to keep fresh while they await shipping and pressure treating at the preservation production facility
• Boards are treated with environmentally and consumer safe MCA (micronized copper azole) treatment for protection against fungal and bug attacks
